Mud Kitchen – Made with Free Wood Pallets

As the weather begins to warm up, we have been getting ready to spend more time outside until winter circles back around. One thing we really wanted to work on this year was building a mud kitchen. We wanted to keep the cost low and also wanted to make it ourselves because we love homemade gifts for our child. We were able to get free pallets to build the mud kitchen from.

Some of the more time consuming tasks were removing nails, hand planing the wood, and painting the built mud kitchen. For long term use, we got deck screw, and exterior paint. These kitchens can be made simply, but also they are very versatile. Meaning they can be built to fit whatever space size you need or want. We made a trip of going to get paint and letting our child help us paint it. It was overall pretty easy and fun for everyone.

We did a simple frame and also made it taller so there’s still time to grow into it for longer use.

All in all, we paid for one 2×4, deck screws, paint supplies, and the accessories for playing.

Our child wanted to pick bright colors, which we were also happy about because we love to have splashes of color everywhere. But especially in the garden, where we will keep the mud kitchen.

We got a stainless steel bowl to hopefully hold up best during all seasons. An affordable water dispenser, which has so far been a huge hit. As well as a set of colorful kitchen toys. We have had such a fun time making this mud kitchen and getting to watch our child play with it and enjoy all of the outdoor fun!
