Low Cost Toddler Sensory Activity – Construction Site

This week’s top activity in our home is the bean construction site. This activity costed us $5.15 in bean costs. But we already had construction vehicle toys. So it was very cheap for us. Sometimes as a mom, I find it hard to come up with new ways to play with toys we already have. However, I was determined to find a way to play with toys we already have for several hours.

I got a couple of different kinds of beans so that we could do a few different things with the beans. First of all, I only added one bag at a time, so each time I added a new bean color, there was new excitement. Second, we used magnetic tiles to build ourselves a silo and then filled it up numerous times. It broke a few times, which gave us more reason to use our construction vehicles to rebuild. Third, I collected some of our kitchen tools to add more fun. Items such as measuring spoons and cups, bowls, and jars. Fourth, we sorted them back into colors, which was fun for a toddler, and took a lot of time.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn this is actually quite easy to clean up. Since we have dogs, dog hair can be found in pretty much everything we own. But it was super easy to clean out so we could keep the beans clean to use again.
